You and I have to do something about the way our government is treating us… maybe this is the start. There’s a storm abrewin’. What happens when good, responsible people keep quiet? Washington has forgotten they work for us. We don’t work for them. Throwing good money after bad is NOT the answer. I am sick of the midnight, closed door sessions to come up with a plan to move more of our hard earned money into the pockets of non-earners. I am sick of Congress raking CEO’s over the coals while they, themselves, have defaulted on their taxes and abuse Pentagon planes. I am sick of the bailed out companies having lavish vacations and retreats on my dollar. I am sick of being told it is MY responsibility to rescue people that, knowingly, bought more house than they could afford. I am sick of being made to feel it is my patriotic duty to pay MORE taxes. I, like all of you, am a responsible citizen. I pay my taxes. I live on a budget and don’t ask someone else to carry the burden for poor decisions I may make. I have emailed my congressmen and senators asking them to NOT vote for the stimulus package as it was written without reading it first. No one listened. They voted for it, pork and all. O.K. folks, here it is. You may think you are just one voice and what you think won’t make a difference. Well, yes it will and YES, WE CAN!! If you are disgusted and angry with the way Washington is handling our taxes, if you are fearful of the fallout from the reckless spending of BILLIONS to bailout and “stimulate” without accountability and responsibility, then we need to become ONE, LOUD VOICE THAT CAN BE HEARD FROM EVERY CITY, TOWN, SUBURB AND HOME IN AMERICA. There is a growing protest to demand that Congress, the President and his cabinet LISTEN to us, the American Citizens. What is being done in Washington is NOT the way to handle the economic free fall. So, here’s the plan. On April 1, 2009, all Americans are asked to send a TEABAG to Washington, DC. You do not have to enclose a note or any other information unless you so desire. Just a teabag. Many cities are organizing protests. If you simply search, “New American Tea Party”, several sites will come up. If you aren’t the ‘protester’ type, simply make your one voice heard with a TEABAG. Your one voice will become a roar when joined with millions of others who feel the same way. Yes, something needs to be done, but the lack of confidence as shown by the steady decline in the stock market speaks volumes. This was not my idea. I visited the sites of the ‘New American Tea Party’ and an online survey showed over 90% of thousands said they would send the teabag on April 1. Why, April 1?? We want them to reach Washington by April 15. Will you do it? I will. Mail it to: THE WHITE HOUSE Forward this to everyone in your address book. Visit the website below for more information about the ‘New American Tea Party’. I encourage everyone to get their envelope ready to mail, and then just drop it in the mail April 1. Can’t guarantee what the postage will be by then, it is going up as we speak, but have your envelope ready. What will this cost you? A little time and a 40 something cent stamp. What could you receive in benefits? Maybe, just maybe, our elected officials will start to listen to the people. Take out the Pork. Tell us how the money is being spent. We want TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY. Remember, the money will be spent over the next 4-5 years. It is not too late! http://newamericanteaparty.com/ Book Mark it-> del.icio.us | Reddit | Slashdot | Digg | Facebook | Technorati | Google | StumbleUpon | Window Live | Tailrank | Furl | Netscape | Yahoo | BlinkList

As it happens, Buddy was the catalyst that propelled me out the door before dawn this morning. My husband accidentally backed over him last Friday necessitating a tearful trip to the veterinary hospital where Buddy stayed for three days. If you don’t know Buddy’s story, he is a Maine Coon, is somewhere between 10 and 12 years old, has been run over twice (to date) has survived feline leukemia for the past four years, is now stone deaf and absolutely loves to go for drives with the window down and him hanging out the window much as a dog would. In short, he is a tremendous personality and is now officially a $1251.00 + - cat. Clearly, I love him. Buddy is also an extremely finicky eater meaning that when we run out of tuna Buddy goes on strike. Before you ask why he does not live in the house with all of these problems, I will tell you that we have other cats and they cannot be around Buddy even though they all have their feline leukemia shots. Beyond that, he really hated being in the house when he first came to live with us. Since he only has two speeds; amble and lay down, he is almost always within a foot of any door or window in the house meaning that we don’t have to worry about him wandering the neighborhood. He is a definite homebody and loves to sit outside my office window chatting to me as I work. So, off I went, a woman on a mercy mission. So what does all of this have to do with Walmart and prayer? The Law of Attraction, pure and simple. Driving along in the early dawn, I was listening to Deepak Chopra’s “How to Know God”. Just before putting that CD in, a couple of radio personalities were discussing prayer, the economy and the fact that if you didn’t regularly include prayer in your daily life, you well may be now. No kidding. While checking out with my ten cans of tuna, I was ruminating over the role of prayer in the American life. Here is where the Law of Attraction pops up. An elderly employee was sweeping an area near to where I was standing. We exchanged a few pleasantries about the weather and a few other minor topics. This gentleman then followed me to the door and asked if I believed in prayer. I wasn’t even surprised. I told him yes, absolutely and this very sweet gentleman asked if he could pray for me. Some of the prayer I am convinced was a typical mantra, but there were also topics that he touched that are not part of my public dialogue. Again, I was not surprised. You are what you think and you do attract what you think about. Now, how was that for a wonderful start to the day? If you are owned by cats as we are, you fully understand that the term “cat owner” is a misnomer. It is the other way around, and they know it. A friend sent me this video and it was just too funny not to share. Enjoy! Truthfully, I don’t watch television or the news, largely because the bulk of what I see and hear on television is either just not believable, or is just plain old fashioned nasty. I do however, peruse various news sites and blogs for my daily political fix. Nancy Pelosi seems to be on peoples minds today and some of the comments that I read put me in mind of one of my favorite Pelosi-isms. My favorite Pelosi quote ever, hands down, or at least to date, has to be her prosing about energy policy, and saying that she “wants to see greater use of natural gas, to diminish our reliance on fossil fuels.” I laughed the first time I heard it, and figured it had to be a momentary malapropism. Then, a few weeks later, she said it again. That time I laughed so hard I blew Earl Grey tea into my keyboard. I may not like, admire, or respect many of our nations “leaders” (of either party, so don’t start hollering at me) but they do offer up some momentary hilarity every now and then. SomeECards.com is a fairly simple and uncluttered site, which as a web developer I appreciate. They have had some fair success in the Facebook Bumper Sticker application so you may have already seen them. The cards are designed with a simple solid colored background, an vintage illustration and are tagged with some seriously smart-aleck captions. I think I have found my e-card home.
