Did You Survive the Recent Twitpocalypse?

Earlier in the month Twitter imploded and users across the giant globe that we all live on lost their collective minds.

Apparently Twitter discovered that a bug in the system allowed people to force users to follow them so they set to work fixing it. Part of the fix required that they set all users  followers  and follows to zero so it appeared that we lost all of our friends and connections in the Twitterverse. Completely freaked-out tweets made their way via various plugins to Facebook and users scrambled to find out why every one of their 3,000 closest friends had suddenly abandoned them. The support desk at Twitter had their hands full trying to answer panicked queries from frantic users.

Reading some of the comments on Facebook and Twitter darn near convinced me that the end of the world was near and that re-writing my will was not even an issue. In fact, since the end was so clearly nigh, I threw my hands up in the air and ordered Chinese takeout. No point in cooking!

Everything was restored within a few hours, of course and Twitter-aholics drew a deep breath and went right back to documenting the important and sometimes ridiculous details of their day for the world to read. Twitpocalypse averted!
