Today, Memorial Day, my quiet little neighborhood is redolent of the scents of Confederate jasmine and grilling meat. Cars are parking on lawns, happy voices are exchanging greetings and children are shrieking as they plunge into pools. In my backyard, the boiling pot is almost ready to receive crawfish and we have horseshoes and croquet set up.
For this slice of Americana, we thank our serving military and confirm the significance of lost lives. We cannot forget that what is best about this country rests on their shoulders. With that in mind, I offer them my heartfelt gratitude.
Please take the time on this very important day to donate to our wounded warriors.
Wishing you and yours a very happy, blessed and SAFE Memorial Day.
